01What we treat

Every kind of damp, above and below ground.

We help people eradicate all types of damp from all types of properties, above and below ground, at home or on commercial premises.

  1. Damp surveys and Pre-Purchase reports

Before starting any kind of treatment, our specialist surveyors inspect the premises to detect the cause of dampness and give you a report. If it warrants damp treatment, we will give you a comprehensive and transparent quotation so you can understand the nature of the suggested work.

Buying a property? Our timber and damp surveys include a Pre-Purchase Report for Woodworm, Rot & Damp Problems.

  2. Rising Damp and Penetrating Damp

Rising damp comes up from the ground, usually through a damaged damp proof course or none at all. We inject chemicals and gels into the wall to create an artificial DPC, which is far cheaper than cutting in a physical one.

Penetrating Damp can show up at any level of the house, from leaky roofing, poorly maintained guttering, burst pipes or tired render and pointing. We find the defect and treat the wall.

  3. Condensation and mould

If you face issues with condensation and mould growth in your home or water streaming in your windows and musty smell indoors, we can be of help.

Our services include damp proofing, mould eradication and condensation control.

  4. Basement Tanking and Structural Waterproofing

We provide customised waterproofing solutions whether you are looking to renovate your basement at home or you are planning to revamp your commercial space.

Cellar and basement waterproofing, cavity drainage systems, inner wall waterproofing and mastic asphalt.

  5. Wet Rot and Dry Rot

Dry rot, if left untreated, can cause serious threats to the property resulting in wide-spread damage to the wood and masonry.

Our surveyors inspect the timber, diagnose whether it is wet or dry rot, and treat it accordingly.

  6. Woodworm and Timber treatment

An experienced surveyor from our team inspects your property and confirms if a live woodworm (the Anobium Punctatum or the Furniture Beetle) infestation is present.

If traces of such infestation are found, then our experts spray or paint an insecticide solution on the affected area which completely eliminates the woodworm infestation.

02Know your damp

Rising, penetrating or condensation?

It’s imperative that damp is identified as soon as possible. Getting the diagnosis right is the whole job, which is why every treatment starts with a survey.

Rising Damp

Caused by moisture underground that rises through your floors and brickwork, commonly because of a damaged damp proof course, or no damp proof course at all. It usually climbs to around 900 mm and leaves a tide mark, with a powdery white substance on the walls damaging paint and plaster.

Penetrating Damp

Unlike rising damp, it can happen at any level of your property. Leaky roofing, fractures in paint, poorly maintained guttering, burst pipes, cracked tiles or worn render and pointing let water in, and left untreated it can damage walls, floors and ceilings and even rot timbers.

Condensation

Water streaming down the windows, mould growth and a musty smell indoors. We get to the source so the problem stays gone.

03How a job runs

From survey to sign-off, you’re never left guessing.

  1. Free survey

We come out, inspect the property and find what is actually causing the damp. The survey is free and there is never any obligation.

  2. A clear, itemised quote

You get a detailed and comprehensive quote so that you understand exactly what has been included, with no hidden charges or call out charges.

  3. Treatment and making good

Our team treats the damp and makes good afterwards, from re-plastering to render repairs, and keeps the site clean and tidy. We keep you updated on the schedule as the work goes.

  4. Sign-off, then payment

We only expect payment when job is completed and certified with our accredited guarantee. We check in again after completion to make sure you are happy.

“Southern Damp Proofing carried out work at my home in November 2024 and further work in February 2025. The team was led by Tobie, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. From the initial consultation, Tobie provided an informative and detailed quote, clearly explaining the various options for the work to be done, including precautionary damp treatment. His expertise and transparency made it easy to understand the best course of action for my property. There were 3 main areas for damp treatment and the removal of moss build up in my roof - the difference as you can see in the photos is incredible.

Throughout the project, the team was incredibly communicative. They always turned up exactly when they said they would and kept me informed about any delays due to weather conditions. This level of communication was very reassuring and demonstrated their professionalism.

The team worked diligently and efficiently, ensuring that the job was completed to a high standard. They took great care to leave the site very clean and tidy each day, which I greatly appreciated.

I’m extremely happy with the quality of the work carried out by Tobie and his team. The damp proofing has made a significant difference, and I feel confident in the longevity of their work. I would highly recommend Southern Damp Proofing to anyone in need of damp treatment services.”

  • “Southern Damp Proofing have been absolutely fantastic from from start to finish. Dan carried out the survey and oversaw the project, checking in during the work and again on completion to make sure everything was done properly and that we were happy. Everything was kept to the exact timescale as agreed. The plasterers were especially impressive, very tidy, respectful of our home, and left everything clean once finished. Jen in the office also called daily and was extremely helpful updating us on the schedule of works. Everything went smoothly Highly recommend.”

  • “Southern damp proofing has been absolutely brilliant from the start to finish. 3 internal walls damp proofed and outside render repaired. I was told about every bit they have done step by step. I’ve had 2 follow up phone calls since completion. They donated 50 pound from the job to my charity of choice, even though they don’t post that they do this from every job. Really pleased”

  • “Tobie and his team sorted out some riding damp and re plastering in my kitchen. They were friendly and efficient and carried out the work to a good standard, with a very smooth finish to the new plasterwork. They were also very tidy.
